Push Notifications

98point6 uses push notifications to inform patients about activity happening both during and after their visit. When partners integrate with the SDK, 98point6 sends these notifications via AWS Pinpoint, using partner credentials.

This section covers:

For the most integrated experience, we should aim for it to appear as if the host app is sending notifications. It is the responsibility of the partner to make sure notifications are presented and routed properly. At a high level, this is how 98point6 sends push notifications:

  1. Device registers with the partner-specific instance of the Patient Contact System (AWS Pinpoint).

  2. Patient contact system uses partner credentials to send the notification.

  3. Notification is sent to either the Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).

  4. APNS or FCM sends the notification to the app.

  5. Partner app receives the notification.
