Detail Financial Transaction (DFT) Messages

Detail Financial Transaction (DFT) messages transmit financial information between various systems and to a billing system for patient accounting purposes and claims generation. These messages are triggered after the visit, when the claim is created.

Each of the points within a visit contains segments that hold important information exchanged during the visit:

• Message Header (MSH)

• Patient Identification (PID)

• Patient Visit (PV1)

• Financial Transaction (FT1)
